Lando Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the title advantage from his teammate by one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before sprint qualifying set to begin at the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the points battle, lying 36 points Norris, was classified in P17 as his team followed a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, though minor, when he rotated at Turn Four soon after starting.
Tsunoda slid over the exit kerbs before spinning across the gravel trap, and was fortunate to get away with just a minor contact of the fence.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also lost it, at the final moments of the practice, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho turn leading to the final corner on to the main straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in P19, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber third fastest, 0.619secs slower than Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
